Urban Wildlife Gardens (UWG) has the perfect gift for gardeners and lovers of local wildlife – a membership! UWG is a program for suburban gardeners who wish to create wonderful gardens for our local wildlife. Available to everyone living in the Noosa Shire area, a $30 once-off membership fee provides a host of benefits.
On joining the UWG program, you can organise a visit to your garden from the program coordinator Michelle Newall to give you expert advice on ways to improve the biodiversity in your garden and identify any weed species.
You also receive an information pack with brochures and a plant list, an UWG property sign, the booklet “What’s in Your Garden? Noosa Native Plants and Wildlife”, monthly newsletters and a voucher for free plants.
Each month UWG also holds a workshop or a garden visit which are very popular, always informative and an opportunity to meet up with other local gardeners with a passion for wildlife. Some of this year’s workshops have included a nursery tour, best plants for native wildlife, starting a native garden, growing plants in containers, nature journalling, a guided indigenous interpretative walk and several visits to established wildlife attracting gardens throughout the Noosa region. Members are always given the first opportunity to book workshops and are able to attend for free, while non-members pay $10 per workshop.
The UWG program is proudly delivered in partnership with NICA and support from Noosa Council. Due to being a NICA program, membership also provides a 10% discount on any NICA publications.
At an affordable $30, you give a gardener or wildlife lover you know an amazing gift that keeps giving! For more information about UWG or to purchase a membership visit www.noosariver.com.au/urban-wildlife-gardens. If purchasing as a gift, make a note of their name and that it is a gift in the comments section on checkout and a gift certificate will be sent to you to give the recipient.
