Sand Island and its’ sand spits are critical for the Migratory birds which come from as far away as Siberia to feed during October to March.  It is 2.3 ha and is in the Noosa River Estuary. For 10 years, NICA has taken a team of volunteers by Pontoon boat, 3 times annually between April and September to remove invasive weeds from this sanctuary.

Our final trip for this year is on Tuesday 6th September.  We’d love you to join our regular volunteers for this rewarding activity. We provide tools and morning tea.
