NICA hosted 4 walks in the 2021 SC Wildflower Festival:
- Girraween Nature Refuge from Dame Patti Drive, Sunrise Beach
- Noosa National Park, Headland Section, from Parkedge Road, Sunshine Beach
- Arthur Harrold Nature Refuge, Noosa North Shore
- Mangrove Boardwalk on Weyba Creek
All walks have featured in previous years although the Arthur Harrold walk on North Shore this year was started from the western (Lake Cooroibah) end. An online booking system, Eventbrite, was used for the first time; this resulted in much more efficient management of bookings. All walks were fully booked (25 participants); total number of attendances was 85.
The event’s success is thanks to our volunteer guides – Sue Davis, Michelle Newell, Dave Burrows and Bruce Hallett – they were all knowledgeable, enthusiastic and well prepared. Feedback from participants was very positive and particularly recognised the inputs of the guides and the species lists.
