Project Description

Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day is a national event initiated by Ian Kiernan in 1989 when he started to clean up rubbish around Sydney Harbour. Run Australia wide on the first Sunday in March each year, with two subsidiary events for Schools and Businesses.

NICA has been coordinating the clean up day in Noosa since 2004 with approximately 25  sites each year.  Please contact us if you have suggestions for additional sites.

Thanks to Noosa Council who support this project yearly to enable this event to take place and to our major sponsors for prizes; Sofitel Noosa and Peppers Noosa.

Sunday 7th March is Clean up Australia Day. NICA will have 14 public sites, from the coastal towns to the hinterland towns of Noosa Shire, where you can register on the day between 8am and 11am to do your bit to help.

This is a fantastic opportunity for volunteers to get involved and remove rubbish from our environment.  Come along to one of our registered sites to sign on and be provided with bags and gloves.  Please wear suitable protective clothing.

Some great prizes on offer from our sponsors Sofitel Noosa Pacific and Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas.  This event is supported by Noosa Council
