This month our workshop was led by Lyndon Davis, traditional Kabi Kabi custodian on a guided walk at Lake Cootharaba.  Lyndon shared stories of the local Noosa region including traditional uses of Native plants for bush tucker, tool making and medicine healing, sharing Kabi Kabi language of native plants; Indigenous Australian landcare perspectives, custodianship and seasonal plant hunting indicators, and benefits to native flora of fire stick farming.

Following the walk, we launched of our new handbook, “What’s in Your Garden? Noosa’s Native Plants & Wildlife” at the Apollonian Hotel.   The handbook contains a wealth of information about how to get started, which plants to select and how to provide habitat for wildlife as well as including many links for further information. Thanks to Stephanie Haslam for her efforts in producing this booklet.
