NICA welcomes the recent publication of Noosa Council’s draft Threatened Fauna Recovery Roadmap (here).  The roadmap, a desktop study prepared by Noosa Council’s Environment Services team, was informed by prior research including the 2019 Noosa Threatened Species Biodiversity Assessment Report. The roadmap has identified 9 fauna species from over 34 short-listed species to prioritise for specific conservation programs within the Noosa region.  Included in the “Noosa Nine” for management prioritisation are the iconic Glossy Black Cockatoo, Koala and the Murray River Cod. NICA strongly supports the conservation of these plus the numerous other threatened, and often less well known, species we are passionate about preserving including Eucalyptus conglomerata, Limosa lapponica baueri, Esacus magnirostris and Saccostrea glomerata.
