At the recent Monday with NICA forum, Noosa Council’s new Fauna Management Project Officer, David O’Gorman, outlined Council’s draft Threatened Fauna Recovery Road Map before a crowd of interested members and visitors. The roadmap, a desktop analysis of flora and fauna biodiversity values across the shire, is intended to guide Council’s approach (and funding) to the ongoing management of regionally threatened fauna. The forum debated the merits of the 34 species shortlisted by Council. Subject to further consultation with key stakeholders including NICA, nine fauna species will be selected by Council for prioritisation and development of species recovery plans.
