NICA Waterwatch Summary March – April 2021
March and April have again experienced heavy rainfalls which have resulted in all parameters varying considerably, although consistent trends have followed throughout the river system. Salinity and pH of the waters always decrease following rain after a drier period (February 101 mm, March 353 mm, April 314 mm), but steadily increase again as fresh water flows out.
WED Sand Island Stopover 1st June
In collaboration with SCEC and the World Environment Day Festival 2021, NICA is pleased to announce it will be hosting a small group tour on Tuesday, June 1 to showcase our "Sand Island Stopover" initiative, restoring Noosa's critical migratory shorebird habitat in the lower Noosa River.
Community Connect Grant Delivers Drone for NICA
NICA is excited to have a new tool to be used for multiple tasks to support our projects; it will assist with identifying point source water quality issues and the extent of algae density and distribution within the river system as well as monitoring the progress of bushland regeneration projects.
