Lots happening around our garden so I thought I’d share some photos I’ve taken recently.
We live on 2 acres at Doonan and now have regular visitors to our garden. When we moved here the backyard was mainly grass but over the years we have planted lots of trees and shrubs. Since joining UWG we’ve been taking just as many out and replacing them with local natives. Wish we knew then what we know now.
Kangaroos have been frequent visitors to our backyard. This kangaroo always seems to be with a joey in tow, this joey not long out of the pouch.
Other frequent visitors are swamp wallabies, this one with her joey, chomping on a young cheese tree that has self seeded.
We have several birdbaths dotted around the garden, a great way to attract birds. We also have some on the ground for lizards etc. Some of the birds I’ve photographed, a magpie, who nearly empties the birdbath whenever they visit, a wattlebird checking out our latest water feature, and a common visitor who is mostly heard but rarely seen, a whipbird. So pleased to photograph this feathered friend having a lovely time in our birdbath.
Can’t finish off without mentioning our winter visitor (we call George) who resides in our roof and has decided it’s time to move on. As usual the birds alerted me that he was on the move.
Spring is such a busy time in our gardens, I’m sure you enjoy it as much as we do.
