This winter it has been a nightly and sometimes daylight event to hear Echidnas scurrying around my property. Its hard to get a good look at them before they dig a hole to hid in.

If you are lucky enough to have Echidnas living or passing through your yard, consider having places they can escape into. Even though the Echidna is covered is spines, they are preyed upon by cats, foxes, domestic dogs and lace monitors.  They use wood piles or thick vegetation to hide in. Having these areas will give the Echidna a better chance of survival. The links below have some interesting information.
