Our August workshop at Lake Macdonald Botanic Gardens with Gubbi Gubbi elder Lisa Powell was a terrific way to spend the last morning of Winter.
The backdrop of the lake and gardens provided a beautiful setting while we all learnt so much from Lisa on the many uses of native plants including medicinal, hunting, weaving and of course some good tucker!
One of the highlights was the Sweet Native Raspberry which is growing as a hedge in the gardens and gave us all an unexpected entree to our morning tea. We were also privy to the emergence of a gorgeous butterfly from its chrysalis, I think a Dainty Swallowtail from my amateur analysis.
A huge thanks to Lisa for spending the morning with us and sharing her knowledge that provided us with not just information but also inspiration for our own gardens.
