Clean-Up Australia Day is Sunday 2nd March this year and once again the whole of the Noosa community is encouraged to help remove any litter and rubbish from our parks and streets, waterways, wetlands and along the foreshores and beaches of our beautiful region.
NICA is delighted and appreciates receiving a 12 months Queensland Government "Engaging Science" grant.
Bruce McConkey and the Noosa River WaterWatch program have been inseparable for nearly 20 years. During that time Bruce has kept his eye on the river tides, and has run a roster to make sure the band of dedicated WaterWatch volunteers were in the right place at the right time.
Quite a few Noosa native plants are flowering and of interest this December and these Plant Sheets detail the more obvious ones. Local gardeners are adding more and more local plants to their gardens and the wildlife is feeling right at home. Urban gardens, council landscaping and surrounding bushland provide links that encourage Noosa's natural look.
After Eucalyptus, the Lilly Pilly is probably the most recognised Australian plant. More than just an attractive plant, it’s a valuable food source and there is a type for every garden.
Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas. I do hope you get the chance to hang some Mistletoe this Christmas. The romantic idea of kissing underneath it dates to centuries old folklore.

In October, the NICA AGM was held at the Yacht Club where a new NICA committee was appointed. It is a great mix of experienced enthusiastic NICA members and enthusiastic active volunteers.
