I have continued to share posts every day on the Urban Wildlife Gardens Facebook page. These are items that may interest local wildlife gardeners and my way of keeping us all in touch with local flora and fauna and the people who enjoy their company. Please keep checking in and open the articles for more information. You can look back on earlier articles if you have missed any.
OUR FROG staying close to home
Our friendly frog continues to emerge from under his pot plant every night. He sits on our back step in a pool of light and consumes all the flying goodies. A frog friend sometimes visits to share the feast.
ECHIDNA out and about
The highlight of the month was this little echidna we spied beside the road a few doors away. He scuttled off into the bush. Fortunately I had a camera to record our first sighting here at Lake Cooroibah in more than 25 years.
IN THE GARDEN
Joan Heavey’s garden inspired me to buy two little Banksia oblongifolia. These grow naturally in the bush on the other side of Lake Cooroibah, so are not far from home. They are strong little plants (from the Coolum nursery) and look happy. Joan’s plant was a glorious mature specimen with mouth-watering flowers. I have seen them growing at Civic, regularly clipped and doing well. (I’m sure they feed them.) Civic is where I took this photo and will have to look at this until mine grow.
Lots of chewed leaves in the wake of all the insects, but everything continues to grow like mad. We are having perfect weather and the secateurs have been busy.
Enjoy this beautiful Autumn weather at home.
