NICA, with the help of volunteer coordinator Joe Jurisevic, is coordinating Clean up Australia Day in Noosa. NICA has registered 24 sites around Noosa, 14 of which are public sites as advertised in local papers, and on our website. Last year the data collected from all the Noosa CUAD groups recorded approx 6 tonnes of rubbish removed from our environment, with direct benefits to Noosa’s bushland, river wetlands and wildlife. NICA River Rangers will be out helping on the day by collecting bags from places along the shoreline and transporting them to the Tewantin boat ramp where a litter audit analysis will be carried out involving students from Tewantin State School. If you are able to help out on Sunday 1st March register at one of the public sites, afterwards come down to the Lions Park at Noosaville for a burger. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we will get a great turnout of volunteers next Sunday morning. This annual event is supported by Noosa Council.
