Last month the Sunshine Coast Wildflower Festival was in full swing and despite early showers they soon cleared in time for 18 people to enjoy a walk along the fire trail through the Marcus Beach high dunes.

Guides Erin and Adrian impressed us with their botanical knowledge and had us enthralled discovering among many others, delicate Flying Duck Orchids, purple Fringed lillies and Wedding bush covered in blooms. We gathered on the dune summit and Shaun shared the history of  the Battle to save the dunes. This site was an area fought for and won by protesters against the future development by T M Bourke in the 1990’s and it is now part of the National Park and here for future generations to enjoy.

An enjoyable morning which has whet many wildflower appetites!
