What’s in YOUR wildlife garden? With this in mind I have embarked on my first on-line workshop based on  ‘Weaving for Fibre Sculpture with Harriet Goodall’.

My aim with this workshop is to use and record the weaving potential of about 20 local native plants from Lake Cooroibah and my own garden.

The plants I have chosen are:

Scrambling Lily   (Geitonoplesium cymosum)

Blady Grass  (Imperata cylindrica)

Millaa Millaa Vine  (Elaeagnus triflora)

Monkey Vine  (Parsonsia straminia)

Screw pine  (Pandanus tectorius)

Flax Lily  (Dianella sp.)

Cabbage Palm  (Livistona australis)

Native Wisteria  (Callerya megasperma)

Cordyline Lily  (Cordyline rubra)

Bangalow palm   (Archontophoenix cunninghami)

Seagrass

Grey Sedge  (Lepironia articulata)

Jointed Twig Rush  (Baumea articulata)

Schoenoplectus  (Schoenoplectus validus)

Brown vine

Native Hibiscus  (Hibiscus tileaceus)

Woolly Frogmouth  (Philydrum lanuginosum)

Five-leaved Water Vine   (Cissus hypoglauca)

Bulrush  (Typha orientalis)

Native Ginger  (Alpinia caerulea)

I have collected, sorted and labelled them.  The photograph shows them hanging up to dry.

The next step will be to rehydrate the fibre and follow the workshop modules to create some very home grown artwork.

I will share the results in future newsletters and add a photo or two.
