The local National Tree Day planting event took place at Bagnalls Bushland Reserve in Cooroy. This is a high value Bushland Reserve managed by Noosa Council. Six Mile Creek runs through this site which is in the Mary River Catchment.

This site, which was cleared for agriculture in the past, contains Gallery Rainforest – notophyll vine forest, an endangered plant community. It has slowly been revegetated over the last 20 years and National Tree Day brings community volunteers together to help revegetate, increase local flora biodiversity and reduce erosion impacts within this riparian zone.

1500 native tube stock shrubs and ground covers were planted on the day. It was great to see so many volunteers of all ages helping to restore this long-term revegetation site.

They were also able to check out local wildlife with VIP Wildlife Encounters, learn about the local ecosystem from environmental experts and enjoy a free drink from the coffee van courtesy of Noosa Council.
