When looking for some colour in a native garden there isn’t much better than Thyme honey myrtle.
This spreading shrub grows to around one metre tall. Its very adaptable and tolerates poor soils. It can be seen growing in many Council plantings around the shire and is looking very nice in the strip between the roads on Weyba rd. Its belongs to the Paperbark family and so does well with heavy pruning and this is how to get a good show of flowers. Its flowers best in a sunny spot but will do well in part shade also. The flowers are a purple/pink colour, present in spring and summer.
