The recent rains have been wonderful for the garden. It’s the best time of the year to plant for us, due to the cooler temperatures and the plants thrive in the current conditions. It is also great weather for frogs. The dams and creeks are filling up and frogs are on the move. Anyone with Green tree frogs around the house will certainly know about it now that they have started calling.
It’s also a good time to have a look around the property for frogs that have found themselves stuck.
As the water level rises in water tanks, frogs can become trapped in the tank or piping.
- The frog in pipe had become trapped in a water tank. Hopefully the damage to the nose will quickly heal.
- The one on the fabric had found its way into a car and had to be relocated.
- Last summer I found a frog trapped in the hose holder. It was a Green tree frog that had lost all its colour and was very skinny. Hopefully it also survived and learnt a lesson.
So if we get a break in the rain this week, or even if we don’t, get out and check pipes, tanks and any other places Frogs can become trapped.
Enjoy the rain!
