In partnership with OzFish Unlimited (Noosa), NICA is pleased to announce the launch of our newest initiative entitled “A Line in the Sand”. The purpose of the program, supported by Noosa Shire Council under the Community Environment Grants Program 2021, will be to undertake a much needed renewal of Noosa’s network of fishing line recovery bins to minimise the adverse effects of discarded fishing tackle and waste on our native wildlife and environment. Working with OzFish and partners, NICA intends to install a network of purpose built fully recycled bins in strategic locations throughout the shire and through a new awareness campaign, encourage the recreational fishing community to manage discarded fishing tackle appropriately. One small step toward a more sustainable Noosa River experience for all.
