NICA is pleased to announce the commencement of stage 2 of our Noosa River shorebird conservation program in partnership with Noosa Council. Entitled “Enter the Flyosphere” the project aims to build on the team’s ongoing survey work and shorebird report ( An analysis of migratory and resident shorebird diversity and abundance in the Noosa River estuary 2005 – 2019) by conducting detailed research of shorebird disturbances in the estuary and using that data to design additional community awareness initiatives. These will include upgrading shorebird signage and infrastructure at the river mouth viewing point and creating unique film content to showcase the area’s threatened migratory species. The program is supported by Noosa Shire Council under the Community Environment Grants Program 2021.
