The insects that inhabit our world are not aliens, and their amazing Miniature Lives are fact. They are part of the complex web of life that makes up our biosphere, and Michelle provided a wonderful insight into their fascinating world.
Her presentation was inspiring, informative, engaging and entertaining, all at the same time. We were regaled with displays of exotic insects, given mounted specimens to identify using a dichotomous key, and shown live specimens of leaf insects and huge stick insects.
All of this with a colourful commentary on their unique life cycles, reproductive systems and habits. There were examples of their defensive and offensive behaviours and the camouflage techniques they use.
We had 18 Urban Wildlife Gardeners attend this workshop and judging by their enthusiastic reception it was thoroughly enjoyed, and a presentation of the book ‘Noosa’s Native Plants’ was made.
