Here in Noosa shire we are very lucky to still have some populations of the Richmond Birdwing Butterfly. The Richmond Birdwing Conservation Network and other conservation groups have worked hard to raise awareness of the butterflies vulnerable status. Planting the host plant, Richmond Birdwing vine Pararistolochia praevenosa  is crucial for the continuation of this species. The Sunshine coast airport has showcased the vine in plantings on the outside of the main building. Tube stock can be purchased from Noosa district Landcare and Coolum native nurseries.

The links below contain detailed information on the butterfly and vine:

The website from the Conservation network, http://www.richmondbirdwing.org.au/  although no longer updated this website contains great information.
