Clean up Australia Day in Noosa

NICA with the help of volunteer Joe Jurisevic is coordinating Clean up Australia Day in Noosa this Sunday. This annual event is supported by Noosa Council.
NICA has registered 24 sites around Noosa, 14 of which are public sites as advertised in local papers, and on our website.
NICA River Rangers will be out helping by collecting bags from places along the shoreline and transporting them to the Tewantin boat ramp where a litter audit analysis will be carried out involving students from Tewantin State School.
Thanks to our sponsors Peppers and Sofitel there’s some great prizes of a dinner for 2 and accommodation for some lucky volunteers.
Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we will get a great turnout of volunteers on Sunday morning!

Monday with NICA – Keeping it in Kin Kin

NICA is one of the partners with Noosa & District Landcare who are leading the “Keeping it in Kin Kin” project.  The aim of the project is to identify the origin of sediment reaching Lake Cootharaba, the nature and types of erosion, and the possible remediation processes.  The Kin Kin Cootharaba sub catchment is a major contributor of runoff to the Noosa River system, so this project has major implications for its health.  Come along and hear Phil Moran from Noosa Landcare who will give us an update on the progress of the project.

Monday with NICA – Strategic Planning

Everyone welcome to come along next Monday, there will be a discussion between the committee and attendees on NICA moving forward into 2019.
Feel free to pass this invite onto your friends and any potential new members.

Monday with NICA – Development in the Wallum

Everyone welcome to hear Dr Sue Davis and Bettina Walter from ‘Glossy Team Sunrise’  This talk relates to the issues surrounding the Aged Care facility proposed in Grass Tree Court, Sunrise Beach in an area of important natural habitat, and the efforts of a Community based group to raise awareness around planning processes and attempting to engage with Developers to achieve best possible outcomes. You will have an opportunity to contribute in this forum.
