On Sunday 2-4-17 NICA volunteers spent 4 hours removing 18 bags of weeds from the sand island at the river mouth on Sunday, including Basket Asparagus, Corky Passion Vine and Cobblers Pegs. John & Kay provided a well deserved excellent morning tea!
Volunteers have visited the island twice a year since 2011 which has resulted in a remarkable change in the condition of the island with natural regrowth reclaiming areas once smothered by weeds. This activity is part of the Volunteer River Rangers Project funded by Noosa Council.
